Thanks to Kristi for setting me up with this blog page, I am ready to blog my head off!
Merril and I just returned from a week in the mountains...and it was great!
We parked next to a river, all alone (until 3 trailers moved in for the Labor Day weekend) but they parked pretty far away from us and all of a sudden moved out very quickly! They must have heard a news announcement for STORMS in our area! We drove over the Skyline Drive to Ephriam from Joes Valley, We rode the 4 wheeler over to Cottonwood Canyon and took a lunch. We climbed up a huge rock (yes, even at 65 we did it) and ate our lunch on top on it. Far more frightening than climbing the rock was the two trucks of Indians we bumped into on that ride.... They were parked on the side of the road waiting for one of their Indian friends who for some reason was walking up the road several blocks away...STRANGE! I wondered what brought that all about! At any rate we saw them coming and going and they were still waiting for the guy to reach them...
We watched movies, sat around the fire, read 5 chapters in the B of M each day, took more 4 wheeler rides, we were so busy that I didn't even have time to read a book. I did work on my laptop a couple of times however! I love it. We camped in the Lower Joes Valley area... some place we found 4 wheeling at the family campout. It was great for us, but not for anyone with little kids.
Sunday night it thundered and lighteninged and I got nervous...it rained all night but not heavily. The next day it rained lightly off and on and then all of a sudden it hailed for a few minutes....then when the clouds broke for a while and dried up the area a little we decided to come home on Monday night instead of Tuesday. We had a few little difficulties like the generator stopped working, the electical post that hooks into the truck that generates the tail lights, etc. on the trailer disconected on a terrible WASHBOARD road near Moon Lake and drug for quite some time without us knowing it....We picked up a new end on our trip to Ehpriam and Merril did a great job replacing it... Well all in all, it was a wonderful get-away as our first little trip celebrting both of our RETIREMENTS! Yeah! It was GREAT!
Can't wait to do it all over again!
